What are Stand Alone Frothers Used for?
Stand alone frothers like the Mirocco are designed to be used in tandem with a coffee making device. In short create the coffee you way you like it and then the frother produces the frothed milk to top off the recipe. Whipped cream was first used in coffee in Viennese coffee houses in the 1700s. Cappuccino style coffees caught on in Northern Italy shortly afterwards. The milk froth became an inherent part of the recipe. Microfoam is produced by introducing minute bubbles of air into the milk which makes characteristic steamed-milk cream, crema or froth.
The stand alone design of the Miroco is the same size as a large mug and while it can’t be labeled as highly portable, like battery powered, handheld devices, it’s far more advanced, its small size does make it portable while being able to churn out a lot of froth. The Miroco would be as much as part of a set of kitchen devices as a kettle, toaster or microwave, if you love coffee drinks.
Testing The Miroco MI-MF002W Milk Frother
As soon as you put it on its base, a handy, ‘beep’ sounds, press the only button 1-4 times in correspondence with your choice of froth setting. A small light indicates your choice. The frother starts to spin and heat up quickly, making it ideal for preparing froth for drinks from cappuccinos to flat whites in minutes. When the froth is ready 3 beeps sound. It takes about a minute so have your coffee brewed and ready. Then lovely thick froth can easily be poured into the cup.
4 Froth Settings
- Not Much Froth
- Hot Airy Foam – Works well with a latte
- Hot Dense Foam – I liked this on a cappuccino
- Cold Milk Froth – Useful for iced lattes
With its compact design, the Moroco MI-MF002W Milk frother is great for small kitchens or travel with it in your suitcase. The Miroco looks, the part too, with it’s curved, smooth lines and white color. However, if that’s not your preferred color I’m afraid there are no others.
Is the Miroco Electric Milk Frother Easy to Clean?
The Miroco MI-MF002W is easy to clean thanks to the non-stick stainless steel inner. Simply remove the device from the electric base and rinse and clean by hand with detergent and warm water. Easy stuff.
The Miroco MI-MF002W Uses
This electric milk steamer is made from high-quality stainless steel with an ergonomic grip that provides easy handling while it heats up fast and creates lovely quality froth. However, this device is not ideal for big families in one go, in fact you’ll get two generous cappuccinos worth of froth in one go. On the upside, it works so effortlessly well simply, rinse and repeat the action and you’ll make 6 cups in about 5 minutes.
In Conclusion: Miroco MI-MF002W Review
I enjoyed using this diminutive device. It’s as if Miroco thought of everything in the MI-MF002W. It has looks, usability and performance at a price that won’t break the bank. Great choices of froth at zoom speeds, it feels tough and its easy to clean. Are there any cons? Some may want a device that comes in more than the color white…occasionally you’ll find it in a black livery…well I had to try to think of one downside…if it is a downside.
